Programs & Events

Here are ways you can be involved this school year!

AWARD PLAQUE - Award plaques are given for citizenship and academic achievement at the end of the year as recognition for selected graduating Shepard students. Names are also displayed in the main lobby. (June)
 
BIRTHDAY RECOGNITION - Unique display of student birthdays created by a PTSO volunteer and displayed in the school lobby. (all year)

BOOK FAIR - Profits go toward the technology fund, playground equipment or other items, as needed by the school. (November and Late February or Early March)

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION - Cereal box tops from General Mills are collected for money, to be used to purchase needed educational supplies for Shepard. (all year)

CLASSROOM ENRICHMENT - PTSO provides funds for teachers to use towards materials to enhance individual classrooms. (August/September)

CULTURAL EVENTS - PTSO provides funding to help promote cultural awareness among our students. (all year)

CURRICULUM NIGHT - This night includes PTSO membership drive, approval of PTSO budget and time for parents to visit classrooms and learn about expectations. (September)

FIFTH GRADE GRADUATION - PTSO provides funds for the ceremony and the following celebration. (June)

FUNDRAISING - Profits from various fund-raising activities go toward the technology fund, playground equipment, or other items as needed by the school. (all year)

HOSPITALITY - PTSO volunteers sponsor special events at Shepard such as our Open House and Grandparents Day. PTSO funds provide the refreshments. (October)

LABELS FOR EDUCATION - Campbell's Soup Labels are collected and sent in for reimbursement towards PE equipment and educational supplies. (all year)

MEDIA CENTER ENRICHMENT - PTSO provides funds for new books and necessary materials. (all year)

M.O.D. SQUAD - (Males On Duty) Dads, uncles, grandfathers and male guardians...if you have an hour of your time, we can use you in our program.  Opportunities to volunteer include morning hours 8:15-9:15 am, lunchtime/recess, and afternoons 3:15-4:15 pm.

READING CLUB - PTSO provides funds for this reading club's activities, such as the Reading Club all-day trip to hear Missouri authors and storytellers. (Spring)

PARENT RESOURCE LIBRARY - Various resources and books are available for viewing through funds provided by the PTSO. They are available in our parent waiting area near the lobby. (all year)

PARTNER-IN-EDUCATION - PTSO provides funds for advertisement to thank our partner, 3M, for their MARVELOUS support. (Spring)

PRINCIPAL'S FUND - Fund for recognition of special student achievements and miscellaneous situations that occur throughout the year. (all year)

ROOM PARENT COORDINATORS - Volunteer enlists homeroom parents to coordinate classroom parties and field trip assistance. (all year)

SCHOOL PICTURES & YEARBOOK - a non-profit project conducted by PTSO volunteers and coordinated by teachers. (September and April)

STALLION STAMPEDE - PTSO sponsors the first annual social event/carnival for the whole family. Great fun you won't want to miss! (October)

STAFF APPRECIATION - PTSO provides funding and volunteers to sponsor the Back-to-School Luncheon, staff birthdays and holiday recognition, Principal's Day, Secretary's Day and Teacher Appreciation Week. (all year)

VOLUNTEER COORDINATORS - PTSO members coordinate volunteer activities and schedules through Shepard Elementary. (all year)
