Stallion memories of the 5th Grade Graduation Class of 2013...

"Mom, I think I want to go back home," I blurt out with a smile, hiding my fear.  "You are going to school and that's final!" says Mom in her 'just-go' voice.  I walk through the door with no tears. I'm fine. I go to my kindergarten class. I sit in my seat and glide my fingers over my glassy name tag and say, "I like it here".  It is true.  I love it at Shepard!  - Brooke

"Shepard is the best school ever!  We have amazing field trips and an awesome playground!  The joyful noises fill the hall. Green and gold spirit everywhere!  Every kid and teacher has a big, friendly face. Shepard is not just good or great. It's the best!" - Briahna

"It was very fun when we went on a field trip to Arrow Rock. We visited a place where we could vote. We also bought souvenirs.  We learned how newspapers are made. It was the most fun field trip ever!"
- Nick

"One day in the library, my class had to stay indoors with our hands over our necks.  It was all about a tornado siren.  After two hours, we got to go to our own homes."   - Hunter

"I remember an ordinary day and Mrs. Fitzpatrick said, 'Hey, let's play hangman'.   We kept guessing and guessing until we found the answer.  It said, 'Shhhh....my son is going to have a big brother!' Everyone was surprised. Then, Jack said, 'Does that mean your pregnant?' Mrs. Fitzpatrick said, 'Yes!' And, that is a Shepard memory.     - Tavian

"I remember my Shepard Choir performance. I danced to 'Putting on the Ritz'.  My favorite part was curtain call when we all danced and took bows."  - Kylee

"I remember in kindergarten and my first day of school.  My loving mom took me to my class and we both cried.  Later that day, I actually had an excellent day. It was awesome!  When I got home, I hugged my mom and told her about my excellent day. I thought it was the best day ever!" - Austin

"When I came to school, I was scared and went to my classroom. The classroom looked cool and I had a nice teacher. I wasn't scared anymore." - Izabelle

"I liked seeing the Governor's Garden. We ate lunch there.  I loved when we saw the Governor's Mansion. We went to the State Capitol. Overall, It was the best field trip I ever had!"  - Ryan

"It was such a happy day until I saw our student teacher, Ms. Mershman leaving.  I wanted to cry, but I didn't. At the end of the day, everyone gave her hugs.  She gave us all cupcakes. It was sad at the end, but she said that she'd come back soon to visit." - Leilanid

"One of my favorite memories is during our Shepard 5th Grade Picnic.  We had so much fun at Stephens Lake. We played whiffle ball and tried to climb a tree.  We also got to play in the spray fountain, and we got our clothes completely soaked!  It was a good time to celebrate our fifth grade class. I will miss them all, and all the great teachers at Shepard."  - Grace

"It was the night of the performance. I got into my shiny, sparkly purple costume. The play began. When I first got on stage, I was nervous, but I started to have fun. I was awestruck by how many people were laughing and having fun. At curtain call, everyone cheered." - Markus

"Everyone was silent. We watched closely as Mrs. Fitzpatrick drew short lines on the whiteboard.  Suddenly, she sat the marker down. 'Hangman!' A smile crossed her lips. 'Guess a letter!' A hand shot up and the guessing began. At the top of the board "Shhh" was written. 'Oh, a secret,' I thought. By the time we guessed the message, we learned that Mrs. Fitzpatrick was going to have a baby.  Everyone gasped!  'Boy or girl' I asked.  She said they want to me surprised.  Then the name suggestions began!"- Hanna

"In fourth grade, Mrs. Gould made apple butter in class.  She opened the cinnamon and decided to pour it.   It came out cinnamon everywhere! It smelled good."                   - Aaron

"I liked ELL classes and had the best teacher. I didn't feel shy because everyone in there isn't good at English, either. Once we introduced where we came from to the first graders, I felt shy, but Mrs. Pedrazaz kept encouraging me to try. Slowly my English speaking improved and I actually started to really like ELL."  - Sally

"I loved our field trip to Arrow Rock. It was special because my dad got to come and he usually is not able to come to many field trips.  This was a moment because all of the interesting things I learned while hanging out with my friends."  - Braydon

"I remember our field trip to Arrow Rock.  My group was called the King Tuts and we stayed together on field day.  We had so much fun and got kettle corn. It was really good. I hope to go there, again."  - Paige

"My Shepard memory is in 4th grade when we went to the Capitol of Missouri.  We all had fun and went inside the Capitol. A bunch of people there were talking. We went to the Governor's Mansion and the Governor's Garden. We ate lunch at the garden and I had a Subway sandwhich.  I love Subway!  It was a very fun trip."               - Ryan

Congratulations Shepard 5th Grade Class of 2013!  Good luck as you go onto Middle School!    We will miss you and hope you come back to visit! You'll always be a Stallion forever!
